Hearing People Starting to "Get It?"

In the blog the Third Estate Sunday Review, a group of hearing students has done an excellent analysis of the situation at Gallaudet in the posting "The students of Gallaudet University are standing up." They do an especially good job of tearing apart the public statements made by Fernandes.

They didn't just take her apart...

They blew her up!

That's an improvement! We need to understand that timing is slow in realizing what issues we are grieving. We must continue!

Blew her up indeed.

Great points! If only she weren't so EGOcentric she could actually see the entire "forest" instead of just the "trees."

Instead of out to destroy a human being, her family, her supporters, the Board of Trustees, and Deaf community members who are not supportive of the protest; we need focus on the issues and work with the administration as a team. The administration does know of the underlying issues that has been simmering for long.

Yeah, the volcano did erupt and blew Jane up. Unfortunately she stood too close. Sigh.

Let's work together, all of us including the administration, staff, fac, protestors, and the Deaf/deaf/hoh comnmunities.

Considsering the bad feeling and what has ensued, who would be daft or brave enough to take on the new president job ? it's a poison chalice. King took it on, look how they reacted to him when he didn't do as they say. It seems a totally thankless job to do. Gallaudet is just a breeding ground for the deaf extremist. More variation of modes and people is the only way to break the vicious circle, whatever else Fernadez lacks,it's not knowledge of what is needed at Gallaudet..
