After a long day of hard work, I was on the way home when Ridor messaged me on my sidekick. He was upset about what I had previously posted, about the deaf CI kid at Walmart being treated disrespectfully. This is what Ridor said:
"It is their right to do that -- people like you disgust me for trying to lecture deaf people on how to behave while you refrain from lecturing hearing ppl from manipulating our lives!
u stupid f***tard."
(Excuse me, but it is not a lecture. I'm just telling the truth. With the vast majority of today's deaf babies getting implants, we simply do not have the luxury of rejecting them even if we don't like that they are getting implanted. They will grow up and form the majority of the future deaf community.)
Is this the kind of blogger we want to donate money to folks? Ridor repeatedly asks for contributions to his PayPal. It is one thing to post nasty comments about people on your own blog. That's entertainment. It is another to instant message people and curse them out. That's disrespect. Does a disrespectful blogger deserve financial support from the deaf community? I think not.
Ridor is definitely arguably the most disrespectful deaf blogger in America. Oh, and it is not the first time either. I'm just tired of his being so disrespectful.

what ridor said was going against the grain of your opinion. The truth is.. the present deaf community may reject the CI kids But how about in 10-25 years when these CI kids take control of the deaf community and we're all senior citizens in deaf retirement homes? Ridor would prolly bitch that a NEW CI RIDORLIVE person will over take the present Ridorlive blog.
And some day when hearing aids and CIS become firmly implanted in the ear.. Ridor is going to have trouble of trying to figure out who's deaf, save for ASL.
But paying money to curse others out? I think not. He may be gay and that's fine. But he's no deaf shock-jock on a personal converation like a side kick. But when it's on your blog and his.. that's where it belongs.

Ridor was quite rude with his response to your blog. Every blogger has to respect each other's opinion without offense. I'm sorry it happened to you. That s one of reasons some parents and I didn't want to post blogs on our CI kids. I am part of the Deaf community myself but most of my friends respected my decision for giving CI to my kid and if they don't respect, then they wouldn't be my true friends. Yes, I agree that more and more deaf babies receive CI and we can't stop that from happening as CI is an amazing technology that is way more advanced than hearing aids for those who are profoundly deaf. The CI gives my kid a capability to hear quite well that a hearing aid can never give and she likes to wear it all day and night. She even wants to sleep with it at bedtime.
Typical of Ridor to attack people through e mails and IMs. That has been his pattern whenever he disagrees with someone else.
Apparently many people don't realize he is a bully in real life, too.

I secretly suspect that Ridor uses such colorful language as a method to make you think.
As the devil's advocate, Ridor is willing to risk his reputation to make a point that you were referring to the Deaf community as a whole.
As your advocate, Ridor is an angry loser with a lot of punches below the belt. At least his comments make you think.
Your CI article was ultimately biased plus you tried to speak for the community as a whole. Add the fact that you criticized the Deaf, it reminds me of a dog going after his tail.
Indeed, there are dogs who will roll over and conform (die), and then there are those who'll f***ing bite.
Ridor is right because we have been silent too long---for countless years. Now it is time to speak up and tell the truth. We can't wear masks anymore. We can't keep quiet and allow Deaf children suffer. No more. If we put on friendly face then it will encourage hearing parents to think it is okay to put machine in deaf child's brain/ear. It is not okay. I can really understand Ridor's anger. Good for him!

I am glad that you stood up to that midget....he has been bugging us for money. It was a major turn-off. When we politely decline to donate, he screams at us. It shows how retarded he actually is.

Ricky is a real lowly man. I have read some of his remarks....Who cares! I can say anything about him but I don't want to see his name on any deaf bloggers. I'm sorry you had to see this as verbally abusive... I feel for you. Rather than getting all personal about this, since your blog is a public forum and you should at least expect some people like him to respond to you.
What to make of it? Screen out the profanity and look at the message and see what he is trying to tell you. Like Penny said above, I pretty much agree with her. Yes, Ridor can be nasty and can be really strong when it comes to confronting you. Rather than publicizing his comments to public (which you did) why don't you take his message and think about what he said for the CI kids. You need to see it more objectively, as a blogger, and respond it objectively.
It all depends on how you see it as a blogger, I would respond to his comments, not as a person, but as a blogger.

Mutal agreement on all topics cannot happen, variety adds more excitement to life as long as opposing opinions are stated in a calm reasonable manner. Profanity and name-calling is totally uncalled for. It is reminiscent of a first grader throwing a tantrum instead of talking, except his tantrums are verbal.
I see that my distaste for his constant begging for donations is shared with other people. He even had the gall to ask a hearing friend of mine if he could borrow money which was not something that sat well with me, since the friend in question was a casual reader that wanted to learn more about the causes behind last year's protest at Gallaudet. When I questioned R on his blog about that, he immediately deleted my comment.
I want hard facts about CI. I saw many CI deaf students gave up. Why?
I refused to replace my hearing aid with CI. I am scared of CI, the little machine in my head.

your comments are nothing to him. He does what he knows and sees. Being hardcore supporter of CI is really SAD and damaging to deaf community. We keep our mind opened to CIed kids because of their background of their families. My family hung out with our deaf girl-friend's family until they CIed her and took her OUT of our family lives. We were never against them being CIed. But CI organization warned parents to not hang out with deaf family like ours. We have not seen her for almost 5 years. I saw her again at Gallaudet. She was very happy to see me. She explained to me how she went through HELL with her parents for taking her away from us. She had a big-time impact to have a deaf family in her life. You see the difference between this situation and at Wal-mart. hearing parents did to us, too!! that is sooo pointless you to say that!!!

I really admire what you are trying to do. Being a moderate voice for concilation isn't easy. You have people on one side blasting you for being "pro CI", and on the other side blasting you for not supporting the CI enough. All you are trying to do is get everyone to see that we need to find common ground. We need to learn to respect and support each other.
I am willing to comment and try to provide some insight into the CI side of things. However, I am too worried about how Deaf people will treat my child to allow her to get too deep into the Deaf Community. Many Deaf people say they want CI kids to understand Deaf Culture, but how can they when there are too many Deaf people who will verbally abuse them for having implants? My daughter's self esteem is more important than interaction with the Deaf Community. And that is sad. As soon as Deaf people can accept her with her implant, we will happily take her to Deaf events.

I used to love reading his blog daily but over time i began to read less and less from his blog cuz of his aggrogant comments on his blog and his begging for donation. Now i only read his blog between one to three times a week. His news lately are mostly trash stuff. It was juicy in the past cuz of Gally mess got us so interesting. Now nothing going on at Gally since they are cleaning up. I never will send him any donations.

Ridor has his own opinion however he has no rights to insult Jamie such as a name calling and etc. I am disgusted by Ridor's nasty behaviors and I have stopped reading his blogs again and never will. He needs to grow up and be kind to others. Ridor is a very intelligent and gifted writer but seriously has an emotionally damaged. I hope he seeks help to repair himself to be a better person one day.

You know better than that! The point is that Berke should known better to make a better article in different way than blaming on deaf parents' attitude toward parents' decision for their deaf-blind child. Seek Geo is TRULY a professional blogger. Sadly, Ridor is a great writer but he is TRULY not a professional blogger.
I felt he wasn't honest with us about the finances and job. It only cost about $10 a month to run a good website. He been saying he need a lot of money keep on blogger to cover the expenses. He say he has no job but he was interviewed by a local magazine and it said he work for a video phone company. I felt he was earning for living as a blogger cuz he has a lot of Banners or ads on ridorlive site. He could be making a lot of money from those advertisments. He once begged me money so he can buy something for someone's birthday gifts. Yes he is talented blogger but he thought we were so dumb that it cost a lot to run the blog site. It not true. You can easily make money from advertisments on your site and that's simple business.
I think he need be honest to us from now on so we can forgive him. If he can't come out to admit that he was wrong. We will never accept him again just like we are doing to IKJ. IKJ refuse to admitted his wrong doing and we wont forgive him. So Ridor is jut like IJK. So its up to him to admit it or dont bring riderlive back ever again
It seem to me Ridor making a lot of mistakes in his job search. He won't tell us if he'is working or not. We all know he is not cuz when he write he tells us he been in and out of town all the times. His sister claimed in other blog that he been working hard to find a job. I have hard time believing that cuz it doesn't really take longer than 6 months to find a job. Sitting out of the job usually hurt a lot without good reason. Quitting a job without a new one is damaging part. Most people wouldn't quit a job only if they have a new one in place. Some people need to start from the bottom dead end job to proove other company that one company willing to risk hiring u and u show that you are valuble and have reference from ur current company. That what most company are looking for some one with good repatuation and does other company taking a risk on u or not. So Rider been out so long so he need to jump down to dead end job like retail then move up inside the store then apply outside the store. I been there myself i start down there then move up then got a new one out of the company. I think his ego may play the role for looking for high profile. I been there too then i had to step back look at what im doing then took a chance to start from the bottom. If he refuse to take this advice he will get to no where.

To me it wasn't about being for or against CI but about not rejecting the CHILDREN that have been implanted.
I don't think it's right to be rude to their parents, but I do understand the anger and issues. However I do NOT understand being mean or cruel to the children who had/have no choice in the matter. They need the support of the deaf community as much as the children without CI, perhaps more...
